Director M. Gopi has stated that if his new film, Yaadhum Ariyaan, had been a pan-India project, he would have depicted actor Vijay as Prime Minister, not just Chief Minister. The comment was made during a pre-release event for the film, which was dominated by political commentary supporting Vijay and his party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK).

The film’s trailer includes a fictional newspaper headline from November 2026 announcing “Chief Minister Vijay” and his policies. Gopi explained the inclusion as a tribute from a fan, noting that with Vijay’s impending retirement from acting, this was his only opportunity to feature him. “This scene will be in the film,” Gopi confirmed, adding, “My future films will also have references to Vijay.”

This political sentiment was a central theme of the event. Actor Soundararajan, who was a guest, delivered a speech about the TVK’s political struggles, stating, “However many repressions come, however much pressure is applied, however much they try to suppress our leader Vijay and the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, we will fight and win for the people and the land.” Director Perarasu framed the gathering itself in political terms, remarking, “The specialty of this film is that director Gopi is a fan of Vijay. He decided that those who come to the event should be related to Vijay in some way. Everyone here is Vijay’s person.”

Yaadhum Ariyaan marks the debut of actor Dinesh and is described as a sci-fi thriller involving time shifts. The film is produced by Breaking Point Pictures. Dinesh, who appeared at the event in character with makeup suggesting bloodstains, stated that he accepted the role after the director passionately narrated the story to him.

Stunt director Kanal Kannan noted that he was initially skeptical about a debutant hero but was impressed after viewing the trailer. “I was amazed. He has acted very well,” Kannan said. “The trailer, in particular, has excellent background music.”

The film, which also stars Brana, Appu Kutty, and KPY Anand Pandi, is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 18.
