Actor Yogi Babu addressed recent allegations regarding his remuneration and participation in film promotions during the trailer launch event for his upcoming film Jora Kaiya Thattunga. “I don’t fix my salary, but the agreed-upon salary often doesn’t come to me. There’s a huge list of pending payments,” Yogi Babu stated, responding to claims that he demands extra payment for promotional activities. The event, held in Chennai, also saw prominent industry figures like producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu and G. Dhananjayan speak in support of the actor.

The film, directed by Vineesh Millennium and produced by Jagir Ali under the Vaamaa Entertainment banner, centers on the life of a magician. Producer G. Dhananjayan defended Yogi Babu, stating, “They complain that Yogi Babu asks for 7 lakhs to attend promotions, but I know he is not like that. It’s not fair to call him for a film in which he acted for just one day. He attends promotions for many films. We should avoid speaking ill of him.” Kalaipuli S. Thanu echoed this sentiment, saying, “Yogi Babu is good to everyone. When I called, he acted for a producer without taking any money. His name should not be tarnished.”

Director Vineesh Millennium shared an anecdote about his early interaction with Yogi Babu for his 2013 film Theekkulikkum Pachai Maram, where Yogi Babu had requested a higher daily wage. Years later, when Vineesh approached him for Jora Kaiya Thattunga, Yogi Babu readily agreed to act without even hearing the story, a gesture the director appreciated. “This film will definitely be a very different film in his acting career,” Vineesh added.

Yogi Babu clarified the specific incident that likely led to the recent complaints, explaining, “Someone who worked as my assistant acted as a hero, and I acted for one day in that film. That’s the film for which they have complained I asked for 7 lakhs.” He emphasized his commitment to supporting films he is part of.

Jora Kaiya Thattunga, which also stars Harish Pērāḍi and Vasanthi, features cinematography by veteran Madhu Ambat and music by S.N. Arunagiri. Editor Sabu Joseph praised Madhu Ambat’s involvement, calling it an honor to work on a film shot by the multiple National Award-winning cinematographer. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on May 16th.
