Producer-director M.S. Moorthy has unveiled the audio and trailer for his upcoming film 99/66 (Ninety-Nine Sixty-Six), a horror-thriller produced under his Mithra Pictures Private Limited banner. The grand launch event, held at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai, also served as a teaser reveal for the production house’s second venture, Husky House.

Written, directed, and scored by Moorthy himself, 99/66 features an ensemble cast including Sabari and Rohith as the male leads, with Rachitha Mahalakshmi and Swetha in pivotal female roles. The supporting cast includes veterans like K.R. Vijaya and K.S. Venkatesh alongside comedy actors Singam Puli, Chaams, and Mullai Dhanasekaran. Moorthy also steps in front of the camera for a key role.

The film has garnered attention for its unique spiritual elements. The production team secured special permission to film song sequences and scenes within Buddhist monasteries in Thailand, Burma, and Sri Lanka, featuring over 500 monks. Speaking at the event, Rachitha Mahalakshmi noted, “The message about Buddha in this film will definitely be talked about.”

The launch was attended by prominent industry figures. Director Perarasu humorously questioned whether fellow director R.V. Udayakumar was the head of the directors’ union or the Rachitha fan club, given his praise for the actress. “The songs range from Pillaiyar to Karuppanna Sami to Buddha, carrying immense energy,” Perarasu observed. Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu commended Moorthy’s business acumen, predicting success for the “grand creation.”

The technical crew includes cinematographer Sevilora Raja, editor Meenakshi Sundaram, and art director Jayamurugan. The film also integrates extensive AI and CG visual effects to enhance its supernatural narrative.
