Emerging from the shadows of renowned filmmakers like Mysskin and Madhavan, Balaji Madhavan steps into the spotlight with his directorial debut, Idi Minnal Kadhal. The film, a self-described “sensational emotional drama with a different screenplay,“ held its music and trailer launch event recently, where Balaji and his team shared their experiences and hopes for the project.

Balaji, who comes from a family steeped in cinema, spoke with passion about his journey. “This film changed me,“ he said, referring to his time working with actor Madhavan on Rocketry. The film‘s story, which Balaji describes as deeply personal, tackles the topic of mental health. “It speaks strongly about it. The story set in Chennai revolves around a car accident in front of the famous War Memorial. Ciby’s and Bhavya’s characters are involved in the accident, and four other major characters too are connected to the incident. Romance and redemption are two themes of this thriller,” he stated, giving a glimpse into the film.

The event was filled with praise for Madhavan‘s dedication and vision. Producer Jayachander Pinnamneni spoke of their shared dream and the unwavering support they received from family and collaborators. Writer Anand Kumaresan lauded Madhavan‘s transition from technician to friend to director, while actress Yasmin expressed her excitement to return to acting with this project.

Other members of the team, including cinematographer Balasubramaniam, actress Bhavya, and music composer Sam CS, echoed the sentiment. Sam CS, known for his work on Rocketry, praised Madhavan‘s storytelling ability and the film‘s powerful content.

Idi Minnal Kadhal is set to release worldwide on March 29th.
