The upcoming Tamil film Anjaamai delves into the complex and often emotionally charged world of students and parents grappling with the pressures of the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exam in Tamil Nadu. Directed by debutant SP Subburaman and produced by noted psychiatrist Dr. Thirunavukkarasu, Anjaamai aims to shed light on the anxieties and challenges faced by those navigating this high-stakes examination.

At the film’s pre-release event, lead actor Vidaarth expressed his deep connection to the project. “Among all the films I have done, I am most proud of Anjaamai,” he shared. “I was moved to tears when I first heard the story and felt compelled to be a part of this film.” He described the film’s relevance to a wider audience, stating, “This is a film for all people in India. It addresses an important issue that affects many families.”

Vidaarth also highlighted the film’s exploration of different timelines and his character’s evolving appearance. “My character has four unique looks as the story moves through various periods,” he revealed.

Vani Bhojan, who co-stars with Vidaarth, spoke about the challenges and rewards of portraying a mother in the film. “Initially, some people tried to discourage me from playing a mother, fearing it would limit my future roles,” she explained. “But I believe that if I had rejected this role based on age, I wouldn’t be true to my craft as an actor. Anjaamai is a significant film in my career, and working with Vidaarth has been an enriching experience.”

Director Subburaman clarified the film’s objective, stating, “Anjaamai is not about offering solutions to the challenges posed by NEET. It aims to portray the emotional toll it takes on students and their families. The film doesn’t advocate for or against the exam; it simply presents the reality of the situation.”

Dr. Thirunavukkarasu echoed the director’s sentiment, emphasizing the film’s neutral stance. “Anjaamai does not take sides,” he stated. “It simply highlights the realities and complexities surrounding the NEET exam in Tamil Nadu.”

Anjaamai, presented by Dream Warrior Pictures, also features actors Rahman, Krithik Mohan, and Rekha Sivan, along with former IAS officer Balachandran in the role of a judge. The film is scheduled for release on June 7th.
