CHENNAI, India – Actor Prashanth and director Hari are set to collaborate on a new film project, marking their first partnership since the 2002 movie Thamizh. The announcement was made on April 6, 2025, which coincided with Prashanth’s birthday.

This upcoming, currently untitled film will be Prashanth’s 55th cinematic venture. It is being produced by the actor’s father, Thiagarajan, under his Staar Movies banner. Thiagarajan also served as the producer for their previous collaboration, Thamizh.

Thamizh, released over two decades ago, was notable as Hari’s directorial debut and featured Prashanth in the lead role. The action drama received positive notice at the time and represented a shift towards more action-oriented roles for Prashanth. Hari subsequently built a reputation directing commercially successful action films, including Saamy and the Singam franchise.

Speaking about the new project, Prashanth stated, “We promise to deliver a film with a fast-paced screenplay and one that will age well. Many of you appreciated Thamizh, and we aim to recreate that magic.”

Further details concerning the film’s plot, complete cast, and crew are expected to be released at a later date. The project signifies a return to a lead role for Prashanth following recent appearances in films with larger ensembles.

The collaboration brings the actor and director back together professionally after a 23-year interval.
