They’re keeping the official title under wraps for now, calling it AA22 x A6 – shorthand for Allu Arjun’s 22nd film and Atlee’s 6th as director. What we do know is that this is shaping up to be something huge. Sun Pictures isn’t holding back, with the film being described as a futuristic, high-octane sci-fi actioner. And the budget? A staggering Rs 800 crores is the figure floating around.
To kick things off, Sun Pictures released a slick announcement video. It shows Allu Arjun and Atlee meeting up with Sun Pictures’ Kalanithi Maran right here in Chennai to seal the deal. The video follows them jetting off to Los Angeles to meet with some heavy-hitters in the visual effects world, including folks at Lola VFX (the folks behind some of Marvel’s crazy effects).
VFX supervisor James Madigan (Iron Man 2, the recent Transformers movie) said “My head is still spinning” after reading the script. The video also gave us a peek at Allu Arjun trying out different masks and getting 3D VFX scans done, hinting at some potentially wild character designs or high-tech elements in the film.
This team-up makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Atlee absolutely smashed it with his Bollywood debut Jawan, proving he can handle massive stars (like Shah Rukh Khan) and deliver blockbusters that cross language barriers – raking in over Rs 1100 crore globally. Before that, he consistently delivered huge hits in Tamil like Mersal and Bigil. And Allu Arjun? He’s arguably one of the biggest pan-India stars right now.
