The upcoming horror film Jenma Natchathiram is being presented as a prequel to the classic 1976 film The Omen, by way of its Tamil version which shared the same title. The connection was confirmed by the film’s lead actor, Thaman Akash, during a recent gathering to discuss the project ahead of its July 18 release.

Thaman described the new film as a “spin-off which serves as a prequel” to the original story. He suggested that the film would deliver on its genre promise, stating, “Just like the climax of Oru Nodi was shocking, even Jenma Natchathiram will be more shocking and unpredictable.”

The project reunites the team behind the film Oru Nodi, including director Manivarman. Manivarman highlighted the challenging nature of the production, which was shot over 29 nights. He specifically noted the dedication of his cinematographer, KG, who continued to work despite being diagnosed with typhoid during the shoot. “He would go to the hospital in the morning, take medication, and still report to the night shoot,” Manivarman recounted.

The film’s credibility within the horror genre was bolstered by the presence of director Arivazhagan, known for films like Eeram and Sabdham. “The title Jenma Natchathiram is an all-time classic horror hit, and now the team has made a film with the same title,” Arivazhagan remarked. He added, “A strong clarity in writing and then executing it on screen with precision will yield good results… I can clearly sense that Jenma Natchathiram will be a proper horror film.”

Veteran actor Thalaivasal Vijay, who has a role in the film, praised the director’s clarity of vision, comparing him to filmmaker Hari. “It was more like working with director Hari, who would have an edited version in his mind. Manivarman has that same expertise in clarity,” Thalaivasal Vijay said.

Jenma Natchathiram is produced by Amoham Studios and Whitelamp Pictures and will be released by Romeo Pictures. The music is composed by Sanjay Manickam.
