Actor Raju Jeyamohan has revealed that a single phone call from actor Vijay was instrumental in bringing significant attention to his upcoming film, Bun Butter Jam. The project, directed by Raghav Mirdath, also features another high-profile contribution, with actor Vijay Sethupathi making his debut as a lyricist.
Speaking at an event for the film, Raju, the winner of Bigg Boss Season 5, expressed his gratitude and surprise at the support from the senior actor. “One person, with a single phone call, made everyone in Tamil Nadu turn and look at our film. Thalapathy Vijay did that for me with one phone call,” Raju stated. “How he sees me, whether he likes me, or for what reason he wished me well… it is very overwhelming to me.”

Adding to the project’s notable connections, music composer Nivas K. Prasanna announced that Vijay Sethupathi has penned two of the film’s five songs. Nivas also offered high praise for the film’s director, stating, “After Nalan Kumarasamy, I see Raghav as a strong writer.”
The film marks a pivotal moment for its director, Raghav Mirdath, who shared that he was on the verge of leaving the industry before this opportunity arose. “My first film did not do well. I was thinking of leaving cinema altogether,” Raghav recounted. “When I was thinking my life was over and I should go to some other job, this film gave me hope.”
Raju, for his part, offered a pragmatic definition of his new role as a lead actor. “They all call me a hero… but if I can save the producer who made this film with me, on that day I will accept that I am a hero,” he said.

Veteran actor Charlie praised the film’s script and its focus on the current generation. “This is a new attempt that can take Tamil cinema to another level. This is a praiseworthy cinema about the current generation,” he remarked.
Bun Butter Jam, produced by Suresh Subramanian for Rain of Arrows, also stars Aadya Prasad and Bhavya Trikha as the female leads, with Saranya Ponvannan and Devadarshini in key roles.
