The trailer for Fourth Floor, a Tamil psychological thriller starring Bigg Boss Tamil Season 4 winner Aari Arjunan, was released today by actors Vijay Sethupathi, Arya, director Pa Ranjith and actor-musician Vijay Antony through their social media platforms. The film is set for a theatrical release on 27 February.
Set in a residential apartment building in central Chennai, Fourth Floor opens as what appears to be a supernatural horror before pivoting into a murder investigation thriller. The trailer moves between dreams, killings and a police inquiry, blurring the line between the protagonist’s subconscious and reality. The film has received a U/A certificate from the censor board.
“This is a film families can watch together without wincing at any scene,” director L.R. Sundarapandian said. “The screenplay carries the message that trouble can start from anywhere, and we need to be alert. We have woven that into the story’s flow rather than preaching it.”
Sundarapandian, whose previous film Theerkadharisi was a thriller in a similar register, has written the story, screenplay and dialogue. Aari, known for his work in Tamil thrillers including Nedunchalai, Maya and Rettai Suzhi, plays the lead. Deepshika, who appeared in Morgan and Mark, takes the female lead. The supporting cast includes Pavithra, director Subramaniasiva, veteran actor Thalaivasal Vijay and Adithya Kathir.
Music composer Dharan Kumar, known for his work on Boda Bodi, has scored the film. Cinematographer J. Lakshman, whose credits include Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Boda Bodi, handles the visuals. Art director Suresh Kalleri, who designed the sets for web series Aneethi, Jail and Mathagam, has built the film’s apartment setting. Ram Sudarshan serves as editor, with stunts by Danger Mani and choreography by Abu Salse.
Produced by A. Raja under Mano Creations with Surya Prakash as executive producer, the film’s Tamil Nadu theatrical release is being handled by K. Kannan of Seventh Studio. The worldwide release is scheduled for 27 February.
