With Love, the Tamil romantic comedy that has quietly become one of February’s biggest theatrical successes, added a visit to the Chief Minister’s office to its list of milestones this week. Producers Basilean Nasareth and Mahesh Raj Basilean of MRP Entertainment met Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin to share the news of a film that has grossed close to Rs 20 crore in India within ten days of release.

That number is striking for a film led by a first-time director and a lead actor in his debut starring role. With Love, which opened on February 6, was not positioned as a major release. It arrived without a marquee star or a franchise safety net, relying instead on word of mouth and strong reviews to build its audience. That strategy has clearly worked.

The story follows a young man who reluctantly shows up to an arranged marriage meeting, only to discover that the woman across the table is someone he went to school with. What follows is a trip through shared memories and unresolved feelings, the kind of nostalgic self-examination that tends to resonate with anyone who has ever wondered about what might have been. Younger audiences in particular have responded strongly, with packed houses reported across Tamil Nadu.

Director Madhan, who served as associate director on both Lover and Tourist Family before stepping behind the camera for his own project, makes a confident debut. He pairs newcomer Abishan Jeevinth with Anaswara Rajan, who continues to build a strong filmography across Malayalam and Tamil cinema. The combination has worked both commercially and critically: With Love currently holds a 7.7 rating on IMDb.

Sean Roldan composed the soundtrack, with Shreyas Krishna on cinematography, K. Suresh Kumar on editing, and Rajkamal handling art direction. The production is a joint effort between MRP Entertainment and Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Zion Films.

CM Stalin congratulated the producers on the film’s performance during their meeting. Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights. With Love continues its run in cinemas.
