Patriot, the upcoming Malayalam spy thriller that brings Mammootty and Mohanlal together on screen for the first time in 18 years, unveiled a set of Women’s Day character posters on March 8. The poster drawing the most attention was Nayanthara’s, showing her in a stripped-back, intense look that signals a substantial role rather than a token presence in this ensemble.
Director Mahesh Narayanan released the female character posters at hourly intervals starting at 10 AM, featuring Revathi, Grace Antony, Geethi Sangeetha, Sree Parvathi, Darshana Rajendran, Serin Shihab and Nayanthara. The rollout followed an earlier second-look poster that showcased Mammootty and Mohanlal in action-heavy looks alongside Kunchacko Boban, along with a behind-the-scenes video from that particular shoot.
Narayanan, whose previous films Take Off and Malik demonstrated an ability to work at an international scale, is operating with what’s described as the largest budget in Malayalam cinema history. The Patriot film was shot across more than ten schedules in India, Sri Lanka, the UK, Azerbaijan and the UAE, making it the most geographically spread Malayalam production to date. Post-production is currently in progress, with Mammootty and Mohanlal having already completed their dubbing sessions.
The cast reads like a who’s who of Indian cinema: Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Rajeev Menon, Revathi and Prakash Belawadi, the theatre veteran known for his roles in Madras Cafe and Pathaan. Sushin Shyam composes the score, with cinematography by Manush Nandan. Patriot releases worldwide on April 23.
