Gun in hand, crime-scene tape behind him and Coimbatore's headlines screaming: Vetri walks straight out of a case file.

The Buried first look is out, and it puts Vetri in the role of an encounter specialist. Written and directed by Haroon, who made Web, the investigation thriller follows a police officer through the challenges of his job, the damage it does to his family life and how he claws his way back. Post-production is complete, and the film is headed to theatres soon.

The poster leans hard on the case-file look. Vetri walks forward in aviators with a pistol at his side, framed by Coimbatore Junction, a forensic team at a dig site, crime-scene tape and newspaper headlines about interstate gangs and a city on high alert. Producer SR Prabhu, director SR Prabhakaran and actor Aari Arjunan released it.

Vetri, who recently led the death-row drama Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku, leads a cast that includes Hyderabad-based Akshitha as the heroine, with Chandini Tamilarasan, Balaji Sakthivel, Singampuli, Saravana Subbiah, Lubber Pandhu’s Jenson Dhivakar and Kodangi Vadivelu in key roles. One detail stands out in the album: director Arunraja Kamaraj sings an important song built around the police.

John Robins composes the music, KV Kiran handles the camera, Don Bosco edits, and Velu, who worked on Kantara, is the art director. Richy Richardson choreographs the dances. Haroon produces the film with Mahendar Jain under Dream House and Jain Creations, and it was shot across Chennai, Coimbatore, Yercaud and Kodaikanal.
