Irudhi Pakkam 2 first look leaves a trail of fresh blood

One side hunts a killer, the other buries the evidence. Mano Ve Kannathasan's sequel has finished shooting, and its poster draws the blood trail to a car.

A body, scattered cutlery and a blood trail that turns into the road a blue car is driving down.

Manikandan has unveiled the Irudhi Pakkam 2 first look, and it is not subtle. A woman lies upside down in a spreading pool of blood, surrounded by a broken plate, a knife, a spoon, a fork and a wooden ladle. The blood runs away from her in a long red streak that becomes the road for a small blue car driving out of the frame. The tagline reads Vol. 02: Fresh Blood.

The film is the follow-up to Irudhi Pakkam, Mano Ve Kannathasan’s mystery thriller, and he writes and directs again for Insomniac’s Dream Creations. It is the investigative thriller that went on floors in March with Kumaran Thangarajan, known for the serial Pandian Stores and the film Kumaara Sambavam, in the lead. Smeha and Rajesh Balachandran share the lead roles with him, and Abhishek Joseph and Sathya are in the supporting cast.

The setup is a cat-and-mouse game around a single murder. One group is hunting for whoever did it. The people who did it are working just as hard to keep it buried. The makers say the sequel carries over the emotional thread of the first film but tells a new story rather than simply picking up where the first one left off.

Lokesh Elangovan is the cinematographer, Ram Pandian edits and Jones Rupert, who also scored the first film, composes the music. The shoot took place in Chennai and Perambalur and is now complete, with post-production underway. The team says the music, trailer and release date will be announced soon.
