The trailer of action thriller Leech was launched at a ceremony held in Chennai. The film, produced by Book of Cinema Production, features a predominantly Malayalam cast and crew headed by producer-actor Anoop Rethna.

“I started as a theater artist and mimicry performer before moving to short films, but cinema was always my goal,” said Rethna, during his welcome address. “I established this production company to provide opportunities for new writers, directors, and artists.”

Explaining the film’s title, Rethna drew a parallel to human relationships. “A leech sucks our blood without our knowledge. Similarly, we often don’t know who around us is genuinely good or harmful. This forms the foundation of our story.”

Action director Danger Mani spoke about the film’s fight sequences. “It was challenging to choreograph scenes with men and women fighting together. Despite the language barrier, the crew’s cooperation made it possible to execute these sequences effectively.”

Distributor Shijinlal revealed that what began as a Malayalam-only release was expanded to include Tamil and Telugu markets. “Tamil audiences focus on film quality. This action film will appeal across regions,” he said.

Director Perarasu praised the film’s musical composition. “All three songs are excellent. There’s one in the Anthathi style that stands out particularly. Congratulations to the lyricist,” he said.

He also commented on the multilingual aspect of cinema. “Language isn’t a barrier in Tamil cinema. We embrace everyone. These filmmakers from Kerala could make themselves understood even while speaking Malayalam among us.”

The film Leech features cinematography by Arun T. Sasi, music by Kiran Jose, editing by Alvin Tommy, and lyrics by Rafeeq Ahmed, Vinayak Sasikumar, and Anoop Rethna. Actor Nizam entertained attendees by mimicking various voices and singing film songs during the event.

The action thriller stars Anoop Rethna with Sandhya in the lead roles and is expected to release soon in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu languages.
