The upcoming Tamil film Madras Matinee, featuring actors Sathyaraj and Kaali Venkat, was showcased in Chennai. The film, directed by Karthikeyan Mani and produced by Madras Motion Pictures Productions, is being presented by Dream Warrior Pictures and is scheduled for theatrical release on June 6. The narrative is described as a depiction of middle-class life and familial relationships.

Director Karthikeyan Mani stated that the film’s concept originated from his personal observations. “This film is the experiences I have encountered and seen in life,” Mani said. He elaborated on a central theme: “A father runs around like a dog for his children. Suddenly, there is a gap between him and his children. How much that father will hurt.” Mani also noted the significance of Kaali Venkat’s casting in the role of the father, indicating he had considered not proceeding with the film if a suitable actor for the part was not found.

Kaali Venkat, who plays a lead role, remarked on his connection to the script. “When he [the director] told this story, I understood it immediately. It reminded me of my father,” Venkat stated. He also acknowledged the participation of Sathyaraj, noting that the actor joined the project towards its completion.

S.R. Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures, the presenting banner, commented on the film’s appeal. “This film…realistically and at the same time engagingly tells the story of a predominantly middle-class life,” Prabhu observed. “Each character was like looking back at characters we have seen in our lives. This film is an experience like watching a middle-class life as a matinee show.”

The film’s cast also includes Roshini Haripriyan, Shelly, and Vishwa. Anand G.K. is the cinematographer, with music composed by K.C. Balasarangan and editing by Satishkumar Samuski. Lyricist Snehan and actor Samms were among those who spoke at the event, with Samms noting the involvement of Sathyaraj and Vadivelu, the latter having sung a song for the film. Actress Shelly highlighted the director’s calm approach on set, while actress Roshini mentioned the film’s portrayal of a father-daughter relationship.

Madras Matinee is set to be released in cinemas worldwide.
