‘The Language of Pain’: Nandhan Explores Tamil Nadu’s Grassroots Issues

Director Era Saravanan’s latest film Nandhan, starring Sasikumar and Samuthirakani, is set to release on September 20. The film, which held its audio and trailer launch event recently, aims to shed light on grassroots politics in rural Tamil Nadu.

Sasikumar, who plays the lead role, shared his experience working on the film. “I initially agreed to act for only four days but eventually became the lead,” he said. “I was hesitant about how to portray this character, but I managed to play him. This movie will surely satisfy the audience.”

Era Saravanan, known for his journalistic background, emphasized the film’s social responsibility. “This film addresses issues that are still ongoing in today’s times,” he stated. “Even if it makes a small difference, that’s the biggest success for the movie.”

Music composer Ghibran, who scored the film, expressed pride in being part of the project. “The politics of this film is important. I felt that we should be part of something that will definitely go to a bigger platform,” he said.

Actress Shruti Periyasamy, making her debut as the female lead, thanked the director for the opportunity. “Giving such a big character to a new face is significant. This movie will always be close to my heart,” she expressed.

Trident Arts’ Ravindran, the film’s distributor, shared his initial reaction to the movie. “I was in awe when the film ended. They have carefully brought a slice of life to cinema,” he remarked.

Notable figures from the industry, including director Balaji Sakthivel and actor Samuthirakani, praised the film’s authenticity and impact. Samuthirakani, who also plays a crucial role, said, “This film is about changing perspectives and becoming more humane.”

Naam Tamilar Party leader Seeman, who attended the event, compared Nandha” to impactful works of the past. “Saravanan is presenting the story of the land we live in very beautifully. This movie is the language of pain,” he commented.
