Prabhas at 47: Spirit, Fauzi and a busy road ahead

More than two decades after Eeshwar, the actor's next chapter pairs new collaborations with returns to the worlds of Kalki and Salaar.

For fans who call him Darling, the birthday celebrations also honour the warmth behind his towering screen presence.

Prabhas marked his 47th birthday on October 23 with a career that now stretches from Eeshwar to some of Indian cinema’s most ambitious productions. For the fans who call him Darling, it was an occasion to celebrate both the actor who became Baahubali and the familiar warmth that colleagues continue to speak about away from the camera.

His journey began in Telugu cinema more than two decades ago, before the two Baahubali films carried his popularity across languages and introduced him to a much wider international audience. Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD have since added very different worlds to that screen image, from Prashanth Neel’s action drama to Nag Ashwin’s meeting of mythology and science fiction.

The next chapter brings fresh collaborations alongside familiar ones. Spirit pairs him with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, with T-Series producing. Hanu Raghavapudi directs Fauzi for Mythri Movie Makers, taking the actor into a period story. The slate also includes a return to Nag Ashwin’s Kalki universe through Vyjayanthi Movies and a planned Salaar sequel with Prashanth Neel and Hombale Films.

That continued relationship with filmmakers is part of what his collaborators value. Nag Ashwin has spoken appreciatively about having a star who trusts his vision, a quality that matters when a film asks its audience to enter an unfamiliar world. The birthday tribute shared by Prabhas’s team also highlighted his support for social causes and disaster relief, alongside the generosity colleagues have recalled over the years.

At 47, his announced projects bring together four directors with distinct approaches: Vanga, Raghavapudi, Ashwin and Neel. Two new collaborations and two returning film worlds give fans plenty to follow as Spirit, Fauzi, Kalki 2 and Salaar 2 take shape.
