AL Venkatachalam, better known as Venky, a seasoned media professional known for his content creation, has launched Radio Room, an innovative storytelling app and audio OTT platform in India. The app, developed by Venky‘s company, Regional Storytellers, in collaboration with Lytus Technologies, aims to provide a unique listening experience for audiences across various languages and genres.

“Radio Room is not an audiobook,” Venky explained at the platform‘s launch event in Chennai. “Stories and novels are converted into audio dramas with voice acting, original music, and immersive sound effects to create a truly thrilling experience for listeners.”

The platform features stories from both legendary and contemporary writers, including emerging young voices. While the current focus is on Tamil and Eezha Tamil stories, the app is in the process of adding content in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, with future plans to expand into other regional Indian languages like Marathi and Bengali, as well as international languages like Spanish, Portuguese, and German.

Radio Room offers a diverse range of genres, from classic tales and crime thrillers to romances and children‘s stories. Content development is underway for the non-fiction genre, initially focusing on health, wellness, travel, and spirituality.
