Actor Arun Vijay’s upcoming action-thriller Retta Thala is set to hit theaters worldwide on December 25, 2025. Directed by Kris Thirukumaran, known for Maan Karate, the film features Arun Vijay in dual roles, both characterized by distinct negative shades. Produced by Bobby Balachandran under the BTG Universal banner, the project is billed as the actor’s most expensive venture to date.
The pre-release event in Chennai was attended by prominent filmmakers, including A.R. Murugadoss, Muthaiah, and Arivazhagan. Murugadoss, who mentored Thirukumaran, revealed that he had originally registered the title Retta Thala for a potential project with Ajith Kumar. “The title of this film is mine; he knew I would give it to him when he asked. It perfectly suits this script,” Murugadoss stated, adding his wish for Thirukumaran to direct a film under his production soon.
Arun Vijay elaborated on the challenge of playing two antagonists within the same narrative. “One of them is an evil guy and the other is even wickeder. But both differ in terms of their body language, expressions, and diction,” he explained. The film also features a musical contribution from actor Dhanush, who has sung a track for the album composed by Sam CS.
The cast includes Siddhi Idnani as the female lead, alongside Tanya Ravichandran, Harish Peradi, Yogesh Swami, and John Vijay. Siddhi Idnani expressed her excitement about her role, noting that the entire story revolves around her character.
The technical crew comprises cinematographer Tijo Tomy, editor Anthony, and art director Arun Shankar Durai. With high-octane stunts choreographed by P.C. Stunts, Retta Thala promises a stylish mix of action and romance.
