Trisha shrugs off Karuppu launch absence with a 'lost invite' line
Trisha addressed her absence from the Karuppu audio launch on X with a sarcastic 'invite got lost in the mail' line, after a fan-and-actor exchange about her promo silence.
Trisha Krishnan has skipped the promotional run for Karuppu, the Suriya-led RJ Balaji film due May 14, and as the team rolled out events through April and into May, the absence had become its own subplot. Late on May 1, with the audio launch behind them, Trisha picked up X and answered. Her line, to a fan asking why she missed the event: “Guess my invite got lost in the mail.”
The exchange started with another X user posting a self-aware shrug. “Omg yes, I forgot Trisha is in it,” the post read. Trisha quote-replied with the same energy. “Thank you. Even I forgot. Good to know they set a reminder now atleast.”
A second user followed up by asking directly about the audio launch skip. The reply was one line.
Karuppu has been on a heavy promotional schedule since the Madurai audio launch, with Suriya, RJ Balaji and most of the supporting cast on stage. The film reunites Trisha with Suriya two decades after Aaru in 2005. The supporting line-up runs through Yogi Babu, Indrans, Sshivada, Swasika and Anagha Maya Ravi, with music by Sai Abhyankkar.
Conversation across Tamil media on her promo silence had ranged from the speculative, including a Dinamalar piece on possible friction with the crew, to the deflationary, with reporters reading it as a quiet opt-out. Neither side has received confirmation from the team or the actor. The two posts above are the first time Trisha has acknowledged the absence directly.
By later in the evening, Trisha had also put up a separate post reading “May is my month, and hearts too.” The line travelled fast on Tamil social media, read by her followers as either a clean coincidence or a continuation of the earlier exchange, depending on who you asked. The actor offered no further explanation.
Karuppu opens May 14.
