Peddi wraps shoot, slips to June 4 for a third release date

Buchi Babu Sana's Peddi has wrapped a Hyderabad-set AR Rahman number and moved its release to June 4, the third date in three months for the Ram Charan rural action drama.

Ram Charan’s Peddi has finished filming and locked a new worldwide release for June 4. The Buchi Babu Sana rural-action drama wrapped its shoot with an AR Rahman composed song shot on a custom-built Hyderabad set, and the makers used the wrap to release a fresh poster that puts Ram Charan dust-streaked and bloodied, mid-roar.

That June 4 date is now the third release window Peddi has set itself in three months. The film was first slotted for March 27, was then moved to April 30 to capture the deeper end of the summer holidays, and is now sliding another five weeks. Trade is reading this latest move as a clean placement at the tail of the school break, with footfalls expected before the academic year resumes; the makers’ framing, predictably, is the same.

Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead. Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu Sharma and Boman Irani fill out the supporting cast. R Rathnavelu shoots, Navin Nooli edits and Avinash Kolla designs the production. Vriddhi Cinemas is producing under Venkata Satish Kilaru, with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings presenting; the film is going pan-India in all four South languages plus Hindi.

Post-production is now the timer. Six weeks to dub, mix, score and grade a pan-India release, after a wrap announced today, is tight but workable. The promotional push, the makers say, will be aggressive nationwide.
