Yash pulls Toxic off June 4, blames CinemaCon for the rethink
Yash's Toxic will not release on June 4 as announced. After CinemaCon, the makers are realigning a worldwide rollout, with a new date to follow.
Yash is shifting Toxic off its June 4 release. KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations announced today that the film, written and directed by Geetu Mohandas, will not arrive in theatres on the previously announced date; the team is realigning the release for what they describe as a synchronised global rollout, with a new date to follow.
The decision came after Toxic’s CinemaCon presentation, where the film was shown to international distributors and exhibitors at the Las Vegas trade show. The makers say the response there was strong enough to expand territory plans well beyond what was originally booked, prompting a full reset of the release calendar.
This is the second move on the date. Toxic was first lined up for a worldwide theatrical run on March 19; that slot was vacated, the film was rebooked for June 4, and June 4 has now been dropped too.
Yash, who plays the lead and produces through Monster Mind Creations, framed the change as a strategic call rather than a delay forced by post-production. “Toxic is complete, and we are currently aligning global distribution and partnerships,” he said in the official statement. “While we will not be releasing on June 4 as announced earlier, we will be releasing at a later, globally aligned date.”
He tied the decision to the CinemaCon screening: “Presenting our film at CinemaCon and witnessing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed, that this film deserves to reach its fullest potential worldwide.”

A delay this late in the cycle is a heavy call. The Tamil Nadu rights for Toxic were sold for ₹63 crore on a commission basis, one of the larger pre-release deals the state has seen for a Kannada film. The Andhra and Telangana rights went to Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations for a reported ₹120 crore, called the biggest non-Telugu distribution acquisition ever in that market. Both deals were structured around the original March 19 plan; the new global window will reset the run-up for every territory.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was shot in Kannada and English, and will release in dubbed Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam versions. The film stars Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria. Geetu Mohandas, whose Liar’s Dice was India’s Oscar entry in 2014, co-wrote the screenplay with Yash. A new release date is expected once the international distribution is locked.
