The team behind Seyon, Sivakarthikeyan’s next under Sivakumar Murugesan, has named its female lead. Bhagyashri Borse joins the cast, with the announcement timed to her birthday on Wednesday and rolled out as a character poster: Borse seated inside a bangle shop, peacock feather in hand, with the Tamil title (சேயோன், a name for Murugan) running across the lower half of the frame.

Seyon is the second collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and Sivakumar Murugesan, after the actor produced the director’s debut Thai Kizhavi. This time the producing chair sits with Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International and Turmeric Media jointly, with R Mahendran on the producer credit and Arun Karunanidhi as executive producer. Santhosh Narayanan, who scored Maaveeran and Madharaasi for the actor, is on music. Vivek Vijayakumar handles cinematography, San Lokesh edits, and Arun Venjaramoodu is the art director. The visual design through the marketing run is being shaped by Tuney John and 24AM, with Magizh Mandram on creative and marketing.

Borse, a Maharashtrian model who pivoted to acting through Telugu cinema, came onto Tamil radar with Vidaamuyarchi opposite Ajith earlier this year and Mr Bachchan with Ravi Teja before that. Pairing her with Sivakarthikeyan extends the recent banner pattern of casting heroines whose draw is regional rather than only Tamil, with the studio betting on the cross-market reach of an actor whose own Amaran and Madharaasi runs have already pushed his releases past the older Kollywood ceiling.

Sivakarthikeyan’s calendar puts Seyon ahead of Venkat Prabhu’s SK26, the Sathya Jyothi sci-fi project where producer Thyagarajan named AR Rahman as the composer in talks earlier this week. Shoot dates for Seyon, the rest of the cast, and the eventual release window remain unannounced.
