Jiiva's Thagappan releases first single Thangapulla
A father watches his son's happiness from a distance. Marshall Robinson, Pa. Vijay and Murugavel give voice to that longing ahead of the December 24 release.
Thangapulla, the first single from Jiiva’s Thagappan, is out, with G.V. Prakash Kumar releasing the song. Marshall Robinson has composed the number, with lyrics by Pa. Vijay and vocals by Murugavel.
The song centres on a father living apart from his son, quietly watching the boy’s happy moments without making his presence known. He cannot share his affection directly, but being able to see his son happy brings its own comfort. That mix of love and longing gives the single its emotional setting.
Written and directed by Ra. Venkat, Thagappan is set in Madurai and its surrounding areas, with Jiiva and Rajisha Vijayan leading the cast. The father-son relationship was already central to the film’s first look, which placed Jiiva and a young boy outside the Madurai District Court. The new single offers a closer sense of the separation behind that bond.
K. Kumar produces the film for Lark Studios. M. Sukumar handles cinematography, while Nagooran Ramachandran is the editor. Think Music holds the audio rights; the makers have also announced Zee Tamil as the satellite partner and ZEE5 as the streaming platform.
Thagappan is set for a December 24 theatrical release, bringing the family drama to cinemas for Christmas Eve.
