Jyotika and Sonakshi Sinha Anchor Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's System; Prime Video Sets May 22 Premiere
Prime Video has set May 22 as the worldwide premiere date for System, an Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari courtroom thriller fronted by Jyotika and Sonakshi Sinha.
Prime Video has set May 22 as the global premiere date for System, a new Hindi courtroom thriller from director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari that puts Jyotika and Sonakshi Sinha on opposite sides of a privilege gap, and on the same side of an institutional fight.
Sinha plays Neha Rajvansh, a public prosecutor with the social standing to navigate a system that runs on it. Jyotika plays Sarika Rawat, a courtroom stenographer from a humbler background who has watched that system from a typist’s chair for years. The film’s logline puts the two women in an unlikely partnership against entrenched power, and that pairing is what the streamer is selling: a procedural duet rather than a single-lead vehicle.
The film is produced by Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja and Smitha Baliga under Baweja Studios, with Ashutosh Gowariker rounding out the principal trio. The supporting bench includes Preeti Agarwal, Adinath Kothare, Aashriya Mishra, Gaurav Pandey and Sayandeep Gupta. Tiwari, Harman Baweja, Arun Sukumar, Tasneem Lokhandwala and Akshat Ghildial share the screenplay credit, an unusually wide writers’ room for a courtroom drama and a hint at how layered the case construction may be.
For Jyotika, the role continues a Hindi run that has gathered pace since her work in Shaitaan, and gives her a part with rhetorical weight rather than reaction-shot duty. “System is a powerful and thrilling drama that explores themes of ambition, justice and ethics,” said Nikhil Madhok, head of originals at Prime Video India, in the announcement, calling out the lead performances as the film’s spine.
System will premiere in Hindi on Prime Video across India and 240-plus countries and territories on May 22, with no theatrical window. That is a fortnight from now, and the marketing now has a fixed date to push toward.
