Harish Kalyan's Nooru Kodi Vaanavil skips theatres for ZEE5 on November 6

Nooru Kodi Vaanavil, the romance Sasi made with Harish Kalyan and Siddhi Idnani, will premiere directly on ZEE5 Tamil on November 6, skipping a theatrical release altogether. It will not be part of the regular subscription library: the film is a pay-per-view title, so viewers will pay separately to watch it.

The film has been a long time coming. Siddhi Idnani was shooting a schedule of it during the second Covid wave in 2021, and it has sat in the queue since, while Harish Kalyan moved through Lubber Pandhu, Parking and Diesel and Sasi finished another film entirely. That one, Noorusami, crossed 100 million watch minutes on ZEE5 within about a week of its streaming debut in August, which goes some way to explaining where this one has landed.

Harish Kalyan plays Vino, and the story follows a couple whose expectations of each other split as they grow, with family and the people around them pressing on the choices they make. “Love is not always a journey on a straight road,” Sasi said. “The decisions we make can leave a long mark on the lives of the people we care about.” Harish Kalyan said what drew him was that the film looks past the idea of love to “the difficult decisions people face when feelings and circumstances get complicated.” Siddhi Idnani, last seen in Drones, said love can be beautiful but also brings uncertainty and decisions that are not always easy to make.

Balaji Kapa of Madhav Media and Arun Arunachalam produce. Siddhu Kumar composes the music, Prasanna S Kumar handles the camera and M Subarak edits. The poster leans on Sasi’s own back catalogue, billing him as the director of Poo, Pichaikkaran and Sivappu Manjal Pachai, a reminder that he has been making relationship dramas since his debut, Sollamale. Nooru Kodi Vaanavil carries a U/A 16+ certificate and goes live on ZEE5 Tamil on November 6.
