Vijay Sethupathi backs Diwali aid and health camp in Tenkasi
Two hundred elderly people and children went home with new clothes, while the medical camp alongside ran ECGs, blood sugar and blood pressure checks.
Two hundred elderly people and children in Aaykudi, Tenkasi district, received new clothes and welfare kits ahead of Diwali at a festival welfare day and medical camp backed by actor Vijay Sethupathi. Thuli Trust organised the event on Sunday, November 1, with Vijay Sethupathi, Ajithkumar Raveendran, Sivaji Prabhakar and Jai Bala leading the initiative.
The actor’s fan welfare association, Vijay Sethupathi Narpani Mandram, joined hands with the Vallalar Velaivaaippu Sevai Iyakkam (VVVSI Trust), Nursing Station Health Care and Tamil Mann Trust to run the day. The recipients were chosen from economically struggling households, with the idea that the people least likely to buy new clothes for the festival should not have to go without.

The medical camp drew a large crowd from Aaykudi and the surrounding villages. Doctors offered basic health check-ups, blood pressure and blood sugar tests, ECGs and general consultations, along with diet advice and health awareness sessions. For many who came, it was a chance to catch a problem early rather than after it had grown serious.

By the end of the day, the elderly recipients, the children and the families who had queued at the medical camp thanked Vijay Sethupathi, the partner organisations, the volunteers and the medical team who ran the camp.
